a good quote

"never let a problem to be solved,
become more important than a person to be loved"

sorry, I forgot who this is from...
but I loved it.
It's a good thing to think about.

My Five:
1. My new cookbook. I'm cooking every night-which is a big change for me! Well one night is reserved for take-out. Good old Friday is pizza night. Anyway, check it out, it's "The Food Nanny Rescues Dinner" by Liz Edmunds. Love it. Thanks Heather.
2. My new key chain. It's a big, red, chunky heart.
3. A good nights sleep. No need for a nap today!
4. Shopping for Valentines.
5. Boys that love basketball.

pink

not the singer, the color.
I love pink.
It's my favorite color.
But you can't very well paint your bedroom pink.
Unless, I mean if you're six you can. We painted Jensyn's room pink.
Today I got out my pink plates for Valentines day for my plate rack.
I put Hershey's kisses with caramel in the red heart cups, on top of the pink plates.
Why am I sharing this?
Because it made me happy.

What will really make me happy, though, is in two weeks when I get my nails filled.
I will have the tips pink. For Valentines.
It will drive my sister crazy.
But it will make me happy.

My Five:
1. Something to think about that doesn't really matter. Let me ask you a question. Is white a color? I'd like to know what you think.
2. White chocolate covered pretzels, white chocolate covered strawberries. You get the idea.
3. (This is starting to be about white, it's supposed to be about PINK! Oh well.)
4. Coming across Jensyn's hospital picture. Shawn knew to have the nurse put a little pink bow on her sweet, little head. How could that have actually been almost seven years ago?
5. My mom helping me make yummy, yummy salsa and guacamole!

isms

Jaxonisms-
Well we all know about the "lemon fiasco", but as I was driving him home from school today I was thinking about all the funny things Jaxon says that I love. Like when he answers the phone he simply says "talk to me". and when I go into his room at night to give him a hug goodnight (no he won't let me kiss him very much anymore-tear) he used to say "I love you big girl" but I made him change that. Now he says "I love you baby girl".
Without fail, he puts a smile on my face every day.

now as not to leave the other kids out, cause that's how we have to roll:
Landonisms-
Landon doesn't necessarily have "signature" things that he says, but he is honestly one of the kindest kids I've ever met. He actually has two shadows. One is his own and the other is Murphy. If both of them had their way, they would sleep together at night. It just shows how tender and sensitive he is.

Lincolnisms-
This kid cracks me up with some of his words. He will say: "Can we please have a barbecube?" He is a charmer. He always goes the extra mile. He makes my bed for me sometimes to surprise me. He is very obedient. He is smart as a whip and sweet to boot.

Jensynisms-
One of my favorite things Jensyn says is when she says darling. She will say:
"That is just dar-lang", or "this is my best day mommy", or when she greets me with "hey BFF!"

kids do say and do the darndest things!

nice.

I was driving home from school today with Jaxon
and he told me that he raised his hand
and literally said to his teacher:
"I need to squeeze the lemon."

meter-reader

Lincoln was asking me what my very first job was. I told him I used to babysit, but he said, no your first real job. So I told him about my days as a meter maid. Seriously...

My 8th grade science teacher, Mr. Parker, hired me to be his "scribe" while he read the water meter. I would walk next to him with this big, huge book and write down the number in the log. Sometimes I even had to jump down into the hole, with the flashlight to read the meter.
I'm thinking he did this to supplement his income. I worked for him on Saturdays and eventually weekdays in the summer. Pretty soon I worked my way up to became the "reader". I carried this big tool around called the "key". It kinda looked like the tool you used to use to turn your sprinklers on. Apparently, this was my first real working experience. He paid me 10 cents per meter. It was pretty good money. And all cash.

The real point of my story is this:
In the summer, I used to wake up, put on some base (make-up) and head out. Literally, that was all I put on my face. After a while, he offered to take me to his daughter, who was a beautician, to give me some tips about make-up! Mr. Parker was probably 60 years old. I was a little offended but took him up on the offer. So he takes me into Ogden to his daughter's salon and she was...let's say...a rocker chick?! She had long permy hair, nails a mile long, tatooes, caked-on make-up and a short-short skirt. I was scared. I was 14. I mean, I think his intentions were good, but whoa!

I think what I had goin on wasn't so bad.

Hi 2009!

I won't bore you with my resolutions, but I assure you there are many.

We had a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
I'm glad to be back to our schedule.

I'm looking forward to all 2009 has to offer.

Back to my Five:

1. My new purse and wallet. (It makes me happy when I see the soft, flowery inside of the wallet.)

2. "The Hunger Games". A good book, but not for everyone.

3. Apple Dumplings. Sinful.

4. Hooking up with old friends over the holidays!

5. A new, clean slate. A fresh start.
